Materials: American Thread Company "Star" or "Gem" mercerized crochet cotton, sizes 20 or 30. No hook size given, but I imagine anywhere from a 9 to a 12 or 13. Motif measures about 3 1/4 inches.
Ch 8, join to form a ring.
1st row: Ch 5, 3 d tr c in ring leaving the last st of each d tr c on hook, thread over and work off all sts at one time, this is the cluster st. * Ch 5, cluster st in ring and repeat from * 4 times more. (6 in all). Ch 5, join.
2nd row: Ch 6, sc in center st of ch 5, ch 4, sc in same space for picot, ch 6, sc in top of cluster st, repeat from beginning all around, join.
3rd row: Sl st to center of ch 6, * ch 7, sl st in 4th st from hook for picot, ch 7, sl st in 4th st from hook for picot, ch 3, sc in next loop, repeat fom * all around. Join.
4th row: Sl st to 1st ch after the picot, ch 5, work 3 cluster sts with 5 ch between in loop between the picots, * ch 7, sl st in the 4th ch from hook for picot, ch 3, sc in between picots of next loop, ch 7, sl st in the 4th ch from hook for picot, ch 3, 3 cluster sts with ch 5 between in next loop. Repeat from * all around.
5th row: Ch 3, 2 dc in loop, ch 4, sl st in top of last dc for picot, 3 dc in same loop, ch 4, sl st in top of last dc for picot, 3 dc in next loop, ch 4, sl st in top f last dc for picot, 3 dc in same loop, ch 4, sl st in top of last dc for picot, 3 dc in next loop, ch 4, sl st in top of last dc for picot, 3 dc in same loop, ch 4, sl st in top of last dc for picot, skip the 2 picots and 3 dc in loop after the 2nd picot, ch 4, sl st in top of last dc for picot, 3 dc in same loop, ch 4, sl st in top of last dc for picot, repeat from beginning all around.
